Why Play?

ACCCCC believes in play as a guiding force for learning,
because basic skills critical for later success come to life for children
through day-to-day play activities. Pre-school-aged children
are not developmentally capable of learning through academic methods,
so play is the natural building-block of learning! ACCCCC's philosophy is reinforced by NAEYC with its learn-through-play ideals. With learning activities
such as dress-up, painting and drawing, building with blocks, story‑telling,
and use of manipulatives, a child’s conceptual thinking and problem-solving
abilities ultimately are mastered.
ACCCCC’s children find themselves well-prepared
for their transitions into kindergarten when the time comes, and many
elementary school teachers have remarked that children who have spent
their early years at ACCCCC are ready to learn once they arrive in elementary
school.
